About me
I see journalism is an exciting process of casting a wide net for information, and then sorting through the various pieces to see how they fit together. I aim to document subjects from a variety of vantage points, capturing their many conflicting and complementing nuances.
In May 2025 I graduated with a degree in journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. I additionally minored in sociology at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
I strive to tell stories that draw connections between peoples’ individual experiences and larger social and systemic themes. Exploring the institutions, trends and memories that shape the context of a story.
In August 2024, I began working as a part-time reporter for the Syracuse-based nonprofit newsroom Central Current. I covered local organizations and politics while sharpening my editing, research and data analytics skills.
Making public information accessible through journalism is essential to an engaged, responsible democracy. In 2025, I worked on an investigative reporting project on police misconduct in collaboration with Central Current and the Democrat and Chronicle. We sifted through misconduct records and various legal documents to write articles that held offending officers and local nonprofits accountable.
In 2023, I interned for Baltimore Witness, a newsroom that reported on fatal and nonfatal shooting cases in Baltimore City Circuit Courts. By physically attending proceedings and researching cases, I produced content that made the details of high-profile cases accessible while learning how to navigate the court system as a reporter.
Throughout the second half of my college career, I co-founded and was co-editor-in-chief for an SU campus magazine, TENDER, which focused on arts, culture and politics. I managed a team of forty students and organized the editorial process for four consecutive semesters. I was a primary graphic designer and helped other members develop their writing. The position helped me refine my skills as both a leader and a collaborator.
For my senior year capstone, I was an episode editor for a multimedia project about queer super fans of pop divas. Our team wrote, recorded and edited audio for a podcast that featured a drag queen from "RuPaul's Drag Race." We curated social media content, captured photos, filmed video for a short film and produced a written feature that connected personal experiences of empowerment with national politics.
I spent most of my life growing up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I now reside in Estero, Florida, reunited with my extended family! In my free time, I love reading books about history, politics and spirituality. I am a painter and enjoy collaging, journaling, yoga, hiking, napping and keeping up with the news (although, “enjoy” is an increasingly inappropriate word).
